iMow from Stihl

This Father’s Day, help Dad take care of lawn maintenance .... and relax at the same time. For fans of robotic vacuums – this is for you! The iMow from Stihl will keep your lawn trimmed while you’re at work, while you’re asleep or while you’re sitting on the porch enjoying a beverage. There are two models available depending on the mowing area. This machine is battery powered, which eliminates the hassle of oil, gas and the resulting environmental impact.

It’s $1,600 for the model that can cut up to a 1/4 acre; $2,500 for the larger one that will cut up to 1 acre. This machine is an investment, but still cost effective when compared to the price of a lawn tractor or hiring a landscaping service. Stihl products are only sold through authorized dealers and the iMow is currently only available in select areas.

Also from Stihl is the FSA45 lithium ion-powered trimmer. Unlike the iMow, this equipment requires you to do the work, but it’s lightweight and runs on battery power so you won’t be breathing in fumes like you would with a mixed fuel trimmer and there are no cords to trip over like with an electric one. Safe for Dad and the environment!

Belkin’s WEMO Mini Smart Plug

Rated ampersandampersandampersandampersandampersand_light  Hip Ampersand Logos by Vanessa Azzoli

$34.99 Alright, so we’ve had this on a previous gift guide, but this is perfect for the tech-savvy (and frugal) dad in your life. It’s by no means meant to make the whole home smart, but it’s perfect for a single socket in the home. Maybe a tool shop for dad? Oh… did I just stereotype your dad. Sorry.

This is a relatively inexpensive way to convert some plugs in your home to smart plugs. Simply plug it into an outlet and pair it with your home’s wi-fi, and you’re ready to go. There’s a simple-to-use app that allows you to power the plug on and off directly from your phone. Bonus: it actually works from a distance – which helps when you’re out for dinner and forgot to leave a light on for your dog (speaking from experience…). Double bonus: it’s compatible with Amazon Alexa AND Google home.

Instant Pot

Rated ampersandampersandampersandampersandampersand_light  Hip Ampersand Logos by Krista Holmes

Oddly enough, my husband came home from his job site telling me that his client had been telling him about the instant pot for almost 2 weeks. We bought one, and can’t imagine our life without it now. We use it a few times a week, and we are always trying new recipes out. We’ve been able to make a full roast chicken in 23 minutes in it! In addition to it being a pressure cooker, you can use it as a slow cooker, saute items, and even make yogurt! The various digital features are awesome.
