Tommy Lee, Stuck in his #Tracks

After a seemingly endless farewell tour (Vegas bookies have to be having a field day taking bets on whether that’s really true), Motley Crue played what as been hyped as the band’s final final final show last week in Los Angeles. On New Year’s Eve, fittingly.

It was all the spectacle fans expected, much like other shows on the farewell tour, with crazy solos and pyrotechnics and all the on-stage antics they’ve come to expect. Then this happened:

Yup, Tommy Lee’s stuck upside down, strapped into his drum kit, suspended from a roller coaster track. Y’know, normal Crue stuff. And during his time aloft, Tommy Lee did what Tommy Lee does: he swore a lot and asked women to show off their assets, according to UltimateClassicRock.com.

The same website reports that lead singer Vince Neil got a little emotional before the band’s performance of “SOS (Same Old Situation),” pledging that “This is the last time you’re going to be seeing the four of us together on stage.” Skeptics, myself included, will use that sentence in the future as the time Motley Crue promised to get back together in some altered lineup for more shows. Still, when a band has been together as long as these guys, it has to be difficult to even consider walking away after the last of the glitter has been wiped off their faces.

Neil later tweeted a picture of the group together, captioning it “It was a privilege and honor to play with these guys! Rock On!,” while Lee said the band received a bottle of 1999 Dom Perignon champagne from comedian George Lopez.

The band made a big scene of announcing their retirement tour back in January 2014, including signing a legal document vowing to never ever ever ever reunite and tour together again, unless they all wanted to, of course. Bassist Nikki Six recently said that “all hell would rain down” on anyone who tried to get the band back together. And now, 164 shows after they announced their last 72 concerts, a tour which grossed $100 million, the guys are singing “Home Sweet Home,” at least until they get restless or need cash.
