Nearly a decade after it was abruptly cancelled, HBO’s Deadwood might be coming back to life as a long-wished-for movie.
There have been rumblings before and hopes were dashed, but it appears things might be gaining traction this time around. ScreenCrush and other websites reported recently that talks are moving forward for a Deadwood movie.
Garret Dillahunt, a two-time cast member, tweeted last week that he’d heard “credible rumours” of a reunion, ending the tweet with “#Everybodypray.”
If two sources are needed to confirm a fact, take a glance over at TVLine, which also reported that David Milch, the series’ creator, has been talking with HBO about a movie.
HBO later confirmed to Buzzfeed‘s Kate Aurthur that talks are taking place, but only in a very preliminary manner.
Deadwood might best be known for being a Western-style show set in the real town of Deadwood, South Dakota, with a whoooooole lotta swearin’. It also starred such notables as Timothy Olyphant, who went on to star in Justified; Ian McShane of Game of Thrones fame, and early spots from Nick Offerman and Kristen Bell.
