All Thriller. No Filter.

The Misfits – HalloweenThey were really a comedy act, but back in the 80s, some thought The Misfits were actually scary. “Candy apples and razor blades/Little dead are soon in graves”, sang the lead, Glen Danzig.

Rockwell – Somebody’s Watching MeRockwell, born Kenneth Gordy, son of Motown founder, Berry, released this frightening  look at paranoia in ’84. For help, he called up his good pal, Michael Jackson to see if he could use a Thriller-esqe hook. Of course, Michael said yes.

Michael Jackson – Thriller  We like to look at the more obscure tracks on our weekly Geek Beat Picks, but we can’t have a Halloween playlist without the iconic dose of Thriller. 6-minutes long. Best video ever  made, where the King tells the girl that he’s “Not like the other guys”. Spoiler alert, as you’ll see at the end of this video, he might not even be human.   Ola Ray must still gets nightmares.

The Ramones – Pet Sematary   –  In 1989, Punk goblins, The Ramones were close to their group death. But this top toe-tapping track from the movie of the same name, got the goblins back on MTV. It introduced a whole new generation of little goblins to Phill Spector and brood.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Time Warp  Essential for a Halloween party and any other scary events you might have throughout the year. The musical might be a musical, but it’s damn spooky. Props to Richard O’Brien for conspiring the Time Warp dance.
