John Lennon’s Guitar has Been Found After 50 Years… and is up For Sale!

In 1962, John Lennon and George Harrison purchased identical Gibson J-160E acoustic guitars and had them shipped from the US over to Liverpool. The only thing that differentiated these two guitars was the serial numbers.

Lennon cherished this guitar and used it to write songs like “She Loves You”, “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “Please, Please, Me”, “All My Loving”, “From Me to You” and “This Boy” with Paul McCartney. In late 1963, Lennon’s prized guitar went missing and he replaced it with a 1964 model.

Well, Beatles’ gear expert, Andy Babiuk, has recently received a call stating that the guitar was found… after over 50 years. Normally calls like this are a bluff to Andy, but he found this call particularly interesting. Long story short, it’s real and it’s for sale at Julien’s Auction. They’re expecting between $600,000 – $800,000.
