Former NASA Researcher, now from Trinity College, Joseph Roche, became one of 100 finalists for the Mars One mission trip. This one-way trip was recruiting a colony to live on Mars in approximately 10 years’ time.
Roche has revealed that the media coverage was incorrect even right down to the number of applicants. The media has been reporting up to 200,000, while Roche suspects the number sits at 2,761.
He talks about the amount of money that applicants are expected to donate to the community – the organization has been keeping up to 75 per cent of the donations. Meanwhile, CEO Bas Landorp maintains that the money has very little to do with the progress of the application process.
