Silver Dollar Room Door Stays Open

It was reported on Tuesday that the legendary Silver Dollar Room will close its doors after being open for 57 years. The house that was built on Jazz and Blues in the city was originally built as the cocktail lounge for the neighbouring Waverly Hotel.

Later in the day on Tuesday, it was found out that the venue had officially received heritage designation from the city. While it doesn’t guarantee the doors will stay open for the club, it will make it much harder for the building to be demolished –  a fate that has been rumoured since June 2013.

Meanwhile, The Silver Dollar Room continues to rock the house and is home to many local bands.  Check out the website to plan a visit to another historic nightlife treasure of  Toronto.
