AC/DC Drummer Charged In Murder For Hire Scheme

Rudd leaving court after being released on bail.

For decades, his steady and straight forward drumming has kept AC/DC on track. But now it looks like Phil Rudd has gone off the rails and is facing charges after allegedly hiring a hitman to have two men killed in New Zealand.

Rudd appeared in a Tauranga District court following an early morning raid on his home. During the raid, police discovered a stash of pot and methamphetamines of which Rudd is now also facing charges for being in possession.

The identity of the alleged hit man and the intended targets the drummer apparently wanted killed have not been revealed.

The news comes as the Australian band prepares to release Rock Or Bust, their first album in six years, and embark on a coinciding tour. Despite the news and the recent diagnosis of dementia for founding guitarist Malcolm Young, the band tells Rolling Stone says they are undeterred and plan to soldier on.

Rudd has been released on bail.
