If you’re a baseball fan, you’re probably concerned about whether or not your local radio station is playing ‘Royals’ by Lorde. Not really, but if you’re a San Francisco radio station like KFOG, you don’t want anything to jinx the Giants as the face off against the Kansas City Royals in the World Series.
“No offense, Lorde, but for the duration of the World Series, KFOG Radio will be a “Royals”-free zone,” the radio station posted on it’s Facebook page. “We’re sure you understand.”
(For the record, the song says ‘we’ll never BE Royals’, not ‘we’ll never BEAT the Royals’.)
Needless to say, the reactions are kinda all over the map:
“Isn’t that song so last year?” commented Jennifer Farr Hutchison on KFOG’s Facebook page.
“Feel free to make that a permanent policy,” wrote an apparent “Royals” hater.
I wonder if Kansas City stations have banned everything from They Might Be Giants on their airwaves?
