If you grew up in the 80’s or 90’s and were a budding musician, you had to wait for the latest issue of whatever guitar, keyboard, or drum magazine would feature an article with a musician you admired, just so you could find out what type of gear they used. Of course the internet made this easier in recent years, but there’s now a site that’s crowdsourced featuring rigs of all sorts.
Equipboard is, in the site’s words: “the world’s largest database of artists and the gear they use. All crowd-sourced and built by you.”
The site is beautiful, and the social aspect of it is great: you can follow the ‘board’ of your choice and keep up to date as new pieces of gear are added to it. There are also links to the artist Twitter, Soundcloud and Facebook accounts conveniently placed in their profiles
The site also features DJ’s, producers, and rappers. (Another added bonus is it even includes some non-tech gear, like clothing.)
Even if you’re not a musician yourself, it’s still an incredible look into the world of music making. Check it out here.
