What’s the Point of Making an Album Anymore?

This is a question that more people are starting to ask.  With album sales no longer what they used to be, why to we need them?  Since we live in an a la carte world, shouldn’t we just be considered about putting out great singles?

In many ways, albums are simply retail events, useful vehicles for marketing an artist. Many albums are just bloated delivery vehicles for the singles.
