The American town crier who leaked information from the U.S. National Security Agency back in ’13 and former CIA staffer, joined the social media bird early Tursday afternoon with the verified account, @Snowden.
Can you hear me now?

As of 12:10AM EST on Tuesday, September 30, Snowden has 801K followers, while he is only following one twitter account – NSACSS, the official account for the National Security Agency/Central Security Service.
The reason why Snowden is now on Twitter, seems to have been inspired by Neil deGrasse Tyson. The two had a wide-ranging interview that was posted on Friday night. In the second part of the chat, Tyson asked Snowden why he didn’t have a Twitter account.
“You kind of need a Twitter handle. So like @Snowden, maybe? Is this something you might do?” Tyson asked.
“That sounds good, I think we’ve got to make it it happen,” Snowden replied.
“You and I will be Twitter buddies,” Snowden told Tyson. “Your followers will be: the Internet, me, and the NSA.”
Snowden, now lives in Moscow, having being granted asylum there after the U.S. charged him with three felonies. He said he would go back to the States if he were granted a fair trail – much like how Twitter handled his handle situation fairly. @Snowden was already in use when Edward signed up for an account. The ghost account hadn’t been used for three years. Twitter was contracted, and they agreed to turn it over to Edward himself.
It is said that Snowden will be controlling the account.
