The connected house of the future just got its first pet-friendly accessory.
PetChatz is the perfect solution to pet owners who wonder about what their dogs and cats get up to while they’re away, or for those anxious pets who need a little reassurance. It’s basically a webcam that can be accessed by owners to keep their pets happy while away from home.
“With PetChatz, you can see, hear, speak to, provide a comforting scent and give your pet a treat using a smartphone or computer,” the company says on its website. “What is more, you can record fun videos of your pet interactions and upload them to your favorite social media site.”
That’s right, folks – there are special inserts that allow you to give your pet a little aromatherapy if Fido is looking stressed or if Kitty needs a pick-me-up. Or, you can push a button from wherever you are to release a treat on command.
For the low, low price of $350 (plus tax and shipping, of course), PetChatz will send you the special webcam, along with a pack of treats, a pack of “PetChatz Scentz Pads, sample vial of PetChatz Scentz Essential Oil Drops (Calm)” and installation instructions. A high-speed internet connection with access to two-way video is required, with a suggested minimum 2 Mbps internet upload speed. The device is compatible with iPhone 5 or later and iPad technology in addition to dual core Android 4.1 or later.
